Introduction:
Since 2018, DigiSkills.pk has provided more than 2.7 million trainings, making it the first significant free online training programme that offers skill-based education. The young of Pakistan are receiving crucial training from DigiSkills.pk in the use of technology in the workplace of the future.
With an estimated registered number of online freelancers in the several hundred thousand ranges, Pakistan is the fourth largest provider of online freelancers worldwide. Since the majority of the labour is for foreign clients, the majority of the money the workers make is remitted back to their home countries. Although exact figures on the revenue generated by independent contractors are not accessible, estimates range from $ 500 million to $ 1.3 billion annually.
As a result, the Minister of IT and Telecom created the large-scale national Digital Skills (DigiSkills) Training Program, which has been implemented nationwide to provide one (1) million training sessions on the use of technology in the workplace of the future. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom has chosen Virtual University of Pakistan to carry out this massive training programme through Ignite- National Technology Fund (formerly National ICT R&D Fund). The DigiSkills Program aims to provide our youth, independent contractors, students, housewives, professionals, etc. with the knowledge, skills, tools, & techniques required to take advantage of the opportunities offered both locally and internationally in online marketplaces in order to earn a respectable living.
